Promethean Pirates
Sea Glass - 12"x 9" x 2” broken stained glass mounted on opaque glass and wooden frame
Promethean Pirates
In the channel
thick milk dark azure troughs,
the hollows of cream whipped waves,
cup in supplication like empty hands -
begging bowls, from which this ship has slipped away.
On this beam sea
the wind, swift whistling mist,
splits on the rocking bow.
Ice-white salt
showers the port.
Sea spray and brine bands of phantom color
haunt heeling starboard rails -
a wailing band of thieves stealing fire from the sun.
Outside this landlocked window
incandescent yellow flags fly defiant against the grey.
The sea is in the wind.
